Indian/Bengal jungle tiger

Panthera tigris tigris

Carmen

The road to freedom

The white tigress Carmen was torn from her mother shortly after birth. As early as two months old, she was exploited for commercial purposes in a circus to take photos with visitors. Her claws were sharpened so she wouldn’t scratch visitors. She came into our care when she was three months old. She had an unsuitable diet at the previous owner’s place, so we decided to switch to a more solid diet suitable for puppies. The life of such a cub is very stressful, because first of all it needs its mother (and if she could not take care of it for some reason, then the caregiver is a substitute) and not hundreds, thousands of people who want to take pictures with it and pet it.
Thanks to our caregivers and their care, she gradually got used to her new home and lives a peaceful life with us in the common enclosure with the tigress Mautzi.

The red-gold coloring of the tiger’s coat with the typical black striping gives one the feeling that it is distinctive and impossible to miss. However, this coloring perfectly camouflages and protects it in its natural environment of shady forests and primeval forests. The tiger has a muscular body with strong front limbs. The tail reaches up to half the length of its body. Its coat color varies between shades of orange with a white belly, supraorbital arches and cheeks, and prominent vertical black stripes. Stripes are unique to each individual. The tiger’s fur pattern is still visible even when the animal is shaved.
