Malkia Park (Big Cats Rescue) became the first private zoo in Slovakia on 5/5/2022 and also the first zoo that was established in the independent era of the Slovak Republic. 2 The OZ, with which the zoo closely cooperates, continues to operate.
Our first rescued lioness Malkia gave the name and meaning to the whole project. Malkia means queen in Swahili. We strive to make our entire park a royal home for all our wards.
The animals that found refuge with us were mostly already born in captivity and therefore would not survive in the wild. Although, unfortunately, we cannot give them real freedom, we take care of them with love so that they feel really royal with us.
We help those who need our helping hand and to whom we have the opportunity to provide proper care (primates, carnivores, tooth-toothed animals, parrots, ungulates, reptiles, rodents…). Approximately 266 specimens, 69 different species of animals gradually found their home on an area of 7.2 ha. We provide shelter for more than 46 felines (lions, tigers, leopards, jaguars, lynxes, cougars, cheetahs).
The full operation of our park is very financially challenging, so we would be extremely grateful for any form of your help. We will use the collected funds to the last cent for food and veterinary care for our wards, for the salaries of nurses, or improving the enclosures.
See how you can help us… (by adopting our animals, making a voluntary contribution, buying souvenirs, buying experience packages or gift vouchers, staying with us, volunteering… we will be happy to prepare an unconventional teambuilding…)
Thank you for being Malkia Positive!

People who
help us
It takes a lot of work and collective effort to keep such a large complex running. Our zoo would not be possible without the many employees who work together in it every day. Our team is here every day (and in any weather) for both animals and visitors, as animals do not know holidays and visitors primarily look for a varied program on weekends and free weekdays.
