Desert lion

Panthera Leo

Diego

He has a home in Malkia Park

Diego and his brother Alex were born here in Malkia Park. Since one of our first fosters – females Elza and Suria – came already covered, we let them give birth. Unfortunately, due to the lack of interest from the females, the cubs had to be taken away. We made it at the last minute, they were already dehydrated. Our nurses provided both brothers with round-the-clock care. With Kevin and Kiara, lion cubs who came to us at about the same time, they formed a four-member lion group. We do not expect cubs, these animals are sterilized or have undergone a vasectomy, because we do not need to breed animals that have nowhere to put them. Diego currently lives in the group with only Kevin and Kiara, as his brother Alex was taken in by the lioness Malkia, whose “partner” died. As the only feline animal, the lion lives in a pack, therefore we at Malkia Park try to preserve the natural behavior of the animals and take care of their welfare, which also includes the fact that as long as the animal lives socially in the wild, it must also be given company in captivity.
